Shane Hurlbut ASC films have garnered universal acclaim. Come and meet the spirited cinematographer whose work behind the camera is ever-growing and redefining what it means to be a DP in the industry.

Hurlbut, who is enthusiastic and passionate about passing on knowledge to the next generation of cinematographers, has not only compiled a plethora of online training videos about cinematography, has offered at short notice to deliver a full keynote presentation to our members.

Known for Gun N' Roses' November Rain, as well as working with Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, The Rolling Stones, and Nirvana. Hurlbut's versatility transcends any one genre. He's filmed action, sports, drama, and comedy - but it's his attention to story and character that is always at the heart of his arresting visuals.

Hurlbut was the youngest cinematographer to be nominated by the American Society of Cinematographers for his work on The Rat Pack. The DVDX Awards also nominated him in 2003 for his work on 11:14.

Hurlbut's most recent work includes Need for Speed (2014), The Babysitter (2017), Fathers and Daughters (2015), and There is No Place Like Home (2018).

Come and hear some great stories from a great wild man!

There will be refreshments and nibbles provided in the mezzanine area from 6:30 PM. Then the presentation will kick off promptly at 7 PM.

Free for NZCS members. $15 for non-members.
