Join the NZCS for an informal and candid conversation with DoP Bayley and Writer/Director duo THUNDERLIPS.
Moderated by NZCS committee member Paul Mockridge, the event will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the collaborative process of bringing a first feature film to life, including film clips.
The discussion will explore how the team worked together, both creatively and practically, to turn ambitious ideas into what audiences see on screen — including some of the film’s more challenging, inventive and downright ridiculous gags that never made it to the final cut.
The evening will also explore the experience of making a first feature in Aotearoa New Zealand. What does it really take to make that first film? How do you navigate the challenges of limited resources, tight schedules and ambitious ideas? And what challenges can a director (or in this case two directors) & their DoP overcome collaboratively to find solutions and make the most of the opportunities available?
Come and join us as Bayley, Sean and Jordan discuss both the successes and challenges of the filmmaking journey, offering an honest insight into the realities of making a first feature and the vital role collaboration plays in bringing it to life.
